ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Meg Seff

Candidate For School Board - District 4

Hi, I am Meg Seff. I have been in education for 30 years and licensed in K-12 classrooms, Special Education/Gifted, IEPs, Psychometrician, Evaluator, Reading/Literature Specialist and Administration.

When I moved to Houston 8 years ago (from a reciprocal state) I wanted to give back to the community, and share my educational background and expertise in the most needed classrooms.  However, in order to be an Educator in Houston classrooms, I was told I had to take basic education classes again even though I had a Masters in Learning Disabilities.  Unfortunately, this forced me into retirement.  I did set up a volunteer reading program, through the YMCA, at Shearn Elementary where the two students I worked with were brought to grade level. At the start of the 2022 school year it was reported we were 880+ teachers short. KHOU reported other retired teachers who were trying to fill those shortages were also facing obstacles to fill those positions.  In December, the district still has a 400+ shortage.

My goal is for All Kids and their parents to have access to excellence in education.  I believe there are common sense steps we can put in place so that all students can reach their potential.
